The successful incumbent will be involved in high quality teaching and research activities for the department of Film and Television Diploma line at Cityvarsity Braamfontein to which he or she is assigned, particularly in the delivery and development of assigned modules; Visual Literacy, Film appreciation for first, second and third year across Diploma and Advanced Diploma lines. The post holder will also participate in wider activities undertaken by CityVarsity.
Roles and Responsibilities:
•Teaching and learning
oPlan and prepare for the lecturers and provide additional notes to students apart from the study guide provided.
oLecturing hours are an estimated 26 hours per week
oTake responsibility for the quality of teaching provided, ensure continuous improvement and where necessary undertake training to ensure standards are delivered
oUpgrade study guides by benchmarking it against public and industry.
oSupervise student projects and placements where required.
•Setting, moderation and marking of assessments
oSet and moderate exam papers according to the guidelines set out by the exams department.
oPlan and initiate assessments as outlined by CityVarsity’s assessment and examinations policies
oExam papers are to be marked within the three day marking rule and marked against the model answer.
oParticipate in individual and collective research were possible
oSupport the development of research objectives, projects and proposals.
oBe available for student guidance, mentorship and networking
oDepartmental administrative duties
oRepresentation at institutional events
oPossible service on institutional committees

Qualifications and Experience:
•BA degree and higher is preferred within the field of Film and Television or applicable.
•Experience and knowledge on Camerawork and lighting
•Teaching experience is beneficial.
•Industry related experience within film and television is required.
•Must possess advanced skills in research and theoretical aspects of academia.
•Intermediate skills in all Microsoft office applications
•Possess specialist knowledge in the discipline regarding the theoretical components of film and television to develop teaching and/or research programmes and the provision of learning support.
•Use a range of delivery techniques.
•Strong communication skills
•Understanding of the various quality control councils
•Technical skills required by the module assigned
